# Benson

Benson is Strand3 Software's website engine for the AI era. It serves one URL three ways: HTML to browsers, Markdown to AI crawlers, and JSON to AI agents. Each representation is rendered once and cached.

Websites now have three readers. People still need a fast, secure page. AI crawlers need clean Markdown they can quote. Agents need structured JSON they can act on. Most site stacks still publish only HTML and hope the machines will scrape it.

Benson is built for marketing sites, not application frontends. Content is Markdown. Templates are Tera. Sass compiles in-process; Tailwind is an optional standalone binary. Auth, forms, email, images, `robots.txt`, `sitemap.xml`, and `llms.txt` are included. An MCP server lets an agent create pages and configure the site.

Search engines receive HTML so the page can rank as a normal document. AI crawlers such as GPTBot receive this Markdown argument. Agents that send `Accept: application/json` receive JSON.
